PowerPlatformTip 38 – ‘Data Refresh’

πŸ“ŠπŸ”„ The data in the PowerApp, e.g. in the gallery, updates automatically when changes are made, which are written directly from the PowerApp to the underlying data source. β°πŸ’»πŸ’ͺ

πŸ”πŸ”„β° Manually refreshing using the “Refresh” function can take forever and negatively impact performance, as all data is loaded into the app (not just the updated data). Therefore, it should be used with caution.

πŸ‘€πŸ”„πŸ†• However, did you know that you can also force a refresh of the gallery by using a Boolean variable? By toggling the variable to “false” and back to “true,” you can manually trigger a refresh of the data in the gallery without using the “Refresh” function. This can help to improve performance and reduce unnecessary loading of data.

This was explained very well by Shane Young in this video. πŸ’πŸ’»
